Two conversations reminded me this week how tightly we create our realities. Both were with people unhappy at work who felt they had no way forward because their brilliant, creative minds had worked through every possible option and told them, quite definitely, that it would end in disaster. Their brains had weaved straight jackets which held them tightly in place.
It’s challenging talking to smart capable people who are convinced no option is available to them. And so rewarding when their thinking softens, allowing for new possibilities to emerge.
Holding that space is what Coaching is so good at and the part of my job that I love.
